Farm Ops hosts Stress & Pain Reduction with Aromatherapy and Self Massage Workshops
Farm Ops recently hosted two workshops designed to support farmer veterans in managing stress and improving well-being through holistic self-care techniques. Led by licensed massage therapist Bec Groves-Haley, these sessions introduced participants to the benefits of aromatherapy and self-massage as accessible tools for maintaining physical and mental health.
The first event was a virtual seminar on aromatherapy, where Groves-Haley guided attendees through the fundamentals of essential oil therapy. Participants learned how essential oils, derived from plant extracts, can influence emotional health and overall well-being. The session covered different methods of using essential oils, including inhalation and topical application, as well as how specific oils can help with relaxation, focus, and stress relief. Farmer veterans gained insights into incorporating aromatherapy into their daily routines as a simple and effective way to enhance resilience and self-care.
The second workshop focused on self-massage techniques tailored to the needs of farmers. Held in person, this hands-on session provided participants with practical methods to alleviate tension and pain in the head, neck, shoulders, and face. Groves-Haley demonstrated techniques that require no special equipment—just a willingness to take time for self-care. The workshop emphasized the connection between physical well-being and productivity, reinforcing that farmers who take care of themselves are better equipped to take care of their farms.
By offering these workshops, Farm Ops highlighted the importance of holistic wellness practices for farmer veterans. Through aromatherapy and self-massage, participants discovered accessible, low-cost strategies to manage stress, enhance recovery, and improve their overall quality of life.
