New York Small Farms Summits are statewide listening sessions that we host every few years. Attended by farmers, Extension educators, University faculty, and other farm service providers, these Summits focus on high-priority topics for small farms. They are held in various linked sites across the state.
Results from Summits are summarized in reports, which are then used to garner funding, policy changes, and new collaborations to support positive change for small farmers.
2025 New York Small Farms Summit: Stronger Together
In December 2025, we brought together more than 330 farmers and ag supporters across eight sites in New York State for our New York Small Farms Summit! This was an opportunity for participants to learn about research and education projects, and set priorities for future efforts to grow small farm success.
This one-day Summit convened farmers, extension educators, university faculty, and other service providers at multiple sites across the state. A few locations focused on different topics, including specialty mushrooms (New York City) and veterans in agriculture (Central NY). Each summit site connected virtually in the morning to hear from agricultural leaders in the state. Subsequent in-person conversations explored topics on small farm entrepreneurship, resilience, support networks, and priorities moving forward.
We will soon share the results of these conversations. Make sure you are subscribed to our emails to learn more.
