Kiva Loan Endorsement

You are able to apply for a Kiva loan without our participation at any time, but if you would like endorsement from the Cornell Small Farms Program (which can help your loan fundraise more quickly on Kiva’s platform), please complete our short application form. We will respond within 2-5 days, and if we are able to endorse your loan, we will get that submitted on the Kiva platform as soon as we are able to locate your loan application.

For now, please make sure you have begun the loan application process on Kiva by using the Cornell Small Farms Kiva link.

Additionally, the SFP requires that you have successfully completed all requirements for one of the online courses listed at http://smallfarms.cornell.edu/online-courses. Please indicate which course(s) you took and the year you completed it/them.

Tell us about your farm: how long have you been in business? What do you produce? How many people are involved? Do you have a website? Do you have a business plan (not essential for a loan or for our endorsement, but we do like to see any information that demonstrate the thought you've put into planning your business)

What loan amount, up to $15,000, are you seeking? What would you do with these funds, and why is this the highest priority for your farm right now?

How time-sensitive is this loan; i.e. when do you need to have the money?

If your loan request fills successfully, monthly repayments will begin between 0-6 mos after loan disbursement and continue for 2-3 years until the loan is paid off. (Term depends on size of your loan). Does your farm generate enough cash flow to repay the loan? If not, what is your plan for repayment of the amount you borrow?
