So You Think You Want to be a Market Gardener

The Cornell Small Farms Program is pleased to offer an in-person workshop exploring the ins and outs of market gardening. This event is perfect for aspiring and beginning farmers who want to grow and sell vegetables produced intensively on small acreage.  

Whether you are already growing vegetables for yourself and your family or planning for a future vegetable production farm enterprise, this event will assist you make informed decisions on starting a market garden operation. Market gardening is not a one-size-fits-all technique, so this event aims to help you understand the many techniques, tactics, and tools available to you.  

Participants will receive a copy of “The Market Gardener” by Jean Martin Fortier and facilitators will use the book to guide discussions on market garden design, tillage options, appropriate tools and machinery, weed management, season extension, and crop rotation.
