Future Harvest is a membership non-profit that serves the Chesapeake region by advancing agriculture that sustains farmers, communities and the environment. We serve members through education, research, advocacy and building community. The Beginner Farmer Training Program aims to replenish the aging farmer population with a workforce trained in sustainability. The three-level program is year-long and has a competitive application process. Future Harvest has worked with more than 400 trainees since 2009. 2023’s cohort of almost 90 trainees spanned three states plus Washington, DC. The Agricultural Leadership Development Initiative provides a learning cohort for more experienced farmers. The Future Harvest annual conference hosts over 500 people from across the region and features workshops, keynotes and networking opportunities. Our Million Acre Challenge program seeks to ensure that one million acres of Maryland Agricultural Land are under regenerative practices by 2030.
