Veteran Scholarship: Event of Choice
This scholarship helps veterans attend agricultural training and education that furthers their agricultural pursuits.
Terms and Conditions
Eligibility. Scholarship recipient must be a U.S. military veteran, which may include those currently serving, and must reside in New York. This scholarship is non-transferable to non-veteran family members.
Overview. This scholarship aims to support veterans in attending agricultural training and education that supports their agricultural pursuits. Training and education topics must be relevant to the field of agriculture. Training events may include in-person or virtual events, single-day or multi-day workshops, and conferences. Applicants are encouraged to seek approval for a scholarship as early as possible to facilitate reimbursement.
When Applying. Applications containing partial or inaccurate contact information will not be considered. Veterans should clearly articulate how the course will benefit and further their agricultural pursuits and/or strengthen their current farm production operations and/or farm business strategies.
Scholarship Approvals. Applicants will be notified within 5 business days of applying.
Scholarship Recipient Responsibilities. Veterans are expected to actively participate and complete all required evaluations or feedback forms. For event scholarships, recipients must also submit all receipts and a feedback form within 10 working days post-event. By adhering to these responsibilities, scholarship recipients help ensure the continued success and integrity of the Farm Ops Veterans Scholarship program.
Application Process
Please read all of the application process steps before you begin.
Step 1. Register for the event you wish to attend. See below for a list of events which have been pre-approved for this scholarship. Review event dates, locations, and topics, and register accordingly.
Step 2. Apply for a scholarship to support your attendance to the event of your choice. You must upload a copy of your registration confirmation as part of the application process. If you request support for travel in the form of mileage reimbursement, you must put a physical address (not a PO Box) on the application.
Step 3. Attend the training/workshop. Remember to retain receipts for registration fees and track your mileage to and from the event. This information will be necessary for reimbursement. Most importantly, immerse yourself in the training experience!
Step 4. After the event, you will receive a link to an event feedback form. This must be completed before your reimbursement can be processed.
Step 5. Submit reimbursement paperwork. A travel reimbursement form, accompanied by receipts, must be submitted within 10 working days after the event.

We are offering a stipend to attend New York Soil Health Field Days if you travel 100 miles or more round trip. Please follow the scholarship application link above to apply.
