Sam Rose

I began pursuing my passion for agriculture at a young age, spending summers — and later working — on small farms in the northeastern United States. I went on to earn a degree in Plant Sciences from Cornell University and a Masters in Science Education from the City College of New York. During my studies, I spent a semester abroad in Mexico, an experience that ultimately led to living and working there for nearly a decade in areas related to community development, education, and farming.

After returning to the United States, my professional work has included laboring on farm crews, managing a diversified vegetable and livestock farm, operating my own small grains enterprise, founding a nonprofit community farm, and providing financial consulting services to regional farmers. I also run a small beekeeping enterprise.

Outside of work, I enjoy going on runs with my dog, baking bread, and spending time outdoors with my wife and two children, particularly skiing at our local mountain and camping in NY’s Adirondack State Park. 

Comencé a dedicarme a mi pasión por la agricultura a una edad temprana, pasando los veranos — y más tarde trabajando — en pequeñas granjas del noreste de los Estados Unidos. Obtuve una licenciatura en Ciencias Vegetales por la Universidad de Cornell y una maestría en Educación Científica por la City College of New York. Durante mis estudios, pasé un semestre en México, una experiencia que finalmente me llevó a vivir y trabajar allí durante casi una década en áreas relacionadas con el desarrollo comunitario, la educación y la agricultura.

Después de regresar a los Estados Unidos, mi trabajo profesional ha incluido trabajar en equipos agrícolas, gestionar una granja diversificada de hortalizas y ganado, dirigir mi propia pequeña empresa de cereales, fundar una granja comunitaria sin fines de lucro y prestar servicios de consultoría financiera a los agricultores de la región. Actualmente opero un agronegocio de apicultura.

Fuera del trabajo, me gusta salir a correr con mi perro, ornear pan y pasar tiempo al aire libre con mi esposa y nuestros dos hijos, especialmente esquiando en una montaña local y acampando en el Parque Estatal Adirondack de Nueva York.
