Growing Uncommon Fruit Cohort for NYS Veterans

This cohort provides NYS veterans an opportunity to explore the diverse and promising potential of underutilized fruit crops. The program will run from February – September 2026. We will kick off the cohort on Tuesday, February 17, 6:30-8 p.m. with a virtual cohort meet and greet session.
As a cohort member, you will will be offered free enrollment into the online course BF 123: Growing Uncommon Fruit paid for by the Farm Ops project. The course runs for six weeks (February 24 to March 31, 2026) and includes weekly readings, videos, and live sessions with instructors. You are expected to attend at least five of the six live Zoom meetings.
From March – August 2027, you will be invited to attend various in-person and virtual events. These events will also provide opportunities to learn about fruit propagation and operational production, fruit based value added products, and peer collaboration and networking with other veteran growers.
Whether you’re just getting started or looking to diversify your current operation, this cohort will provide the technical guidance, peer support, and mentorship needed to succeed.
