Identify Your Values Email * Why do you want to farm? What's most important to you about having your own farm business? What makes you happy? If what comes to mind are things or activities (new tractor, travel, shopping, etc) try to dig deeper and think about WHY that thing or activity appeals to you. How do you want your financial situation to be? What is your feeling about debt and financial security? How do you want the relationships in your life to be? What are the most important things in life? (consider spirituality, aesthetics, relationships, growth, education, fun, etc) How do you want your land to be? What impact do you want your management to have? (If you already have land, you can be more specific here. If you don't have land, describe your ideal) i.e. Will your land be mostly forested, open, or a mix? How would you describe the soil on your land? Productivity? Wildlife habitats? Water? Plant diversity? How do you want people to think of your farm? Do you want to be seen as leaders of the local food movement? Honest producers of high-quality food? A family fun destination? Your response here will feed into how you brand and market your farm, what marketing channels you choose, and and how you conduct yourself with customers.
