SUMMARY:Food Preservation: Water Bath Canning Tomatoes
DESCRIPTION:September is a month full of bounty! If you’ve found yourself with too many tomatoes for fresh eating\, or if you’re just curious about food preservation\, join us for a workshop on how to preserve tomatoes and other seasonal foods at their peak flavor. Participants will learn about the safety\, equipment\, and benefits of preserving seasonal foods. The class will also include hands-on demos where participants will get to practice canning. Due to the hands-on nature of the topic\, this workshop will be offered in-person only. \nInstructor’s bio: Aly Trombitas is the Agriculture & Horticulture Educator at CCE Tompkins. She is Master Food Preserver and started formally (and enthusiastically) teaching food preservation in 2023. She has many years of experience teaching all ages about food\, environment\, and agriculture. \nFee\nThis program is valued at $35\, however\, please pay what you are able. Paying more than $35 will help others attend the class.

Join us to build your confidence in recognizing the signs of a challenge or crisis and offering meaningful support. \nParticipants who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion. \nThe training includes a 30-minute lunch break and several breaks throughout the day. SUMMARY:Air Pruned Raised Beds for Tree Seedling Production
DESCRIPTION:Join the Cornell Small Farms Program for a hands-on workshop introducing Air Pruned Raised Beds (APRBs) from construction to implementation. This session will cover APRB design\, build\, materials\, growing media\, seed sourcing and storage\, and how to implement tree propagation as an enterprise for your farm. This growing technique is scalable\, modular\, and can be done in urban and rural settings with modest start up and input costs. \nThe first 20 registrants will be afforded the option to take an air pruned raised bed home. Dimention considerations for transport are 2′ wide x 4′ long x 3′ tall. \nParticipation is limited\, so register now! \nHosted by Cornell Small Farms Program’s Farm Ops and Agroforestry projects.
