Wendy and Asher Burkhart-Spiegel purchased Common Thread Farm in 2012 from Chris Babis and Amy Brown, who established Common Thread Community Farm in 2008.   Wendy and Asher and their daughters Klara and Astrid are excited to be in Central New York, operating a farm that is open to the community and helping increase availability of fresh, local, sustainably grown produce in the region.
Our mission at Common Thread Farm is to produce healthy food for our local community using sustainable growing methods, provide opportunities for people to connect with the land and their community, and contribute to larger efforts towards a just and sustainable food system.

How has the Profit Team Program helped your farm?: We’ve begun Holistic Farm Management and received assistance on pest issues.
When you envision your farm business five years from now, what differences do you see?: We would like to be making a better living and to have a more sane lifestyle.
If you weren’t a farmer, what would your dream job be?: We farm because it is our dream job!
What is your best piece of advice for an aspiring farmer?: Don’t do it unless you love doing it more than anything else. Also work for others first and learn from them before starting your own operation.
