Soil as a Foundation for Health & Resilience

Happening Tuesday April 30, 2013, 3 – 4:30pm in Mann Library, Room 102.  A panel presentation and discussion exploring soil as a critical foundation for the health and resilience of people, farms, communities, and the planet. The Cornell Soil Health Test will be presented as a holistic assessment tool, demonstrating collaboration and knowledge exchange between researcher, outreach, and practitioner.
Panelists include:

  • David Wolfe, faculty member in the Department of Horticulture at Cornell University.
  • Bianca Moebius-Clune, Extension Associate in Cornell University Department of Crop and Soil Sciences.
  • Dorn Cox, Cornell alum and current Univ. of New Hampshire Ph.D. student, working with his family on a 250-acre four generation diversified organic farm in Lee, NH.

Violet Stone

Violet's work focuses on creating retreats, workshops and programs for the agricultural community centered on themes of connection, wellness, purpose, integrity and courage. She sees this work as contributing to a more inclusive ‘culture’ of agriculture where all voices are warmly welcomed, honored and celebrated, including the voices of our ‘inner teachers’, sometimes referred to as 'spirit' or 'soul'. Violet serves as the NY SARE Coordinator and can help farmers and educators navigate NESARE grant opportunities.
