Hot Topic Grower Meetings – August 3-4

Regional horticulture and crops specialists will be meeting with open field, greenhouse and high tunnel growers on August 3rd and 4th.
Meeting will be held at the following places:
August 3 at 6:30 pm at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Learning Farm, 2043B Route 68, Canton, NY
August 4 at 6:30 pm at the Cornell Willsboro Research Farm, 48 Sayward Lane, Willsboro, NY
The meetings are free, open to the public, and will conclude at 8:00 pm. Registration is requested by July 31 for the meetings by calling 315.379.9192 or emailing stlawrence@cornell.edu.
The programs in Canton and Willsboro will cover:

  • Training and Pruning High Tunnel Cherry Tomatoes
  • Leaf Mold-Resistant Cherry Tomato Variety Trial
  • This Year’s Disease Challenges
  • Summer Cover Crops.

Speakers include Cornell Professor of Plant Pathology Christine Smart, Cornell University New York State Vegetable Specialist Judson Reid, and Amy Ivy, a regional vegetable specialist with Cornell Cooperative Extension Eastern NY Commercial Horticulture Program. Kitty O’Neil, a crops and soils specialist with the Cornell University Cooperative Extension Regional Ag Team for Northern New York, will join the group in Canton. Cornell Willsboro Research Farm Manager Michael Davis will join the group in Willsboro.
