Weed Management Workshop July 7th

July 7, 2016, 12:30 – 3:30 pm,
Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture, Pocantico Hills, NY
This workshop will begin with a talk on the ecology of weed management followed by an exercise that will help the class apply its understanding of weed ecology to the management of difficult weed problems. We’ll end with a discussion on options for physical weed control.

Charles (Chuck) Mohler was trained as a plant ecologist and taught and did research in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Cornell for 21 years before joining the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences in 2001. He was founder and long-time Project Director of the Cornell Organic Cropping systems Project, a large multi-experiment, interdisciplinary investigation into the ecology of organic farming. He is co-author of the books “Ecological Management of Agricultural Weeds,” “Guide to the Plant Communities of the Central Finger Lakes Region,” and ”Crop Rotation on Organic Farms: a Planning Manual.”
